Blount Market & Kitchen offers more than great soups and specialty items now that Hall's Seafood has joined us.
Tom Hall began shellfishing in 1966 to pay for college. Over the next 12 years, he and his wife, Emily began building a successful business, purchasing a large fishing vessel, and fishing for ground fish and setting lobster and conch traps.
As an addition to their prosperous fishing operation, the couple opened Hall's Seafood in Warren, RI in 1978 to supply the East Bay with fresh lobsters and fish direct from their boat. Within a few years, the business had grown so much that Tom and Emily moved Hall's Seafood to a larger store. In 1990, the Hall's launched their new fishing vessel, the "Emily F. Manning".
Over the years, Tom and Emily maintained a great working realtionship with Blount Seafood and docked the Emily F. Manning at the Blount dock. Shortly after Blount Market opened across the street from the dock, and Blount plant, Blount Fine Foods President, Todd Blount met with the Hall's and reached an agreement to acquire the business. In 2005, Hall's Seafood moved into Blount Market. Emily was brought in to manage both Hall's Seafood and the Market, and the Emily F. Manning continued to supply the new store with fresh lobsters.
In 2007, Tom was forced to stop fishing due to medical problems, but he sold the Emily F. Manning to his first mate, Nate Berg, who continues to supply the Market & Kitchen with live lobsters on a daily basis.
